Mr. de Chapeaurouge is a founding partner of the Germany-based corporate law firm DE CHAPEAUROUGE + PARTNERS. He is admitted to practice in Frankfurt and New York and obtained his German law degrees at Frankfurt University, having earned additional degrees in the United States from Columbia Law School (LL.M.) and the Harvard Law School (S.J.D.), respectively.

After two decades with large institutional law firms in Paris, New York, Chicago, and Frankfurt (among them Skadden Arps and Jones Day), he set up a Practice of his own in 2005 (an egalitarian and lean effort as alternative model to hierarchical and bureaucratic firm structures): first in Hamburg and Frankfurt, followed by New York and London; with a second-stage expansion into Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing through carefully chosen alliances; and a final third stage extension to San Francisco for a global reach, predicated on (i) worldwide relationships in the corporate, financial, and regulatory communities; (ii) on German global economic might and legal doctrinal succinctness; yet (iii) reconciling client needs for legal advice beyond Europe.

Concentrating in corporate, securities, M&A, corporate finance, capital markets, commercial lending and workout-related matters and current on the respective German and U.S. corporate practices, he also follows UK legal trends in a life- and business-cycle philosophy of corporate stewardship; and lends a trusted perspective as Consigliere to Governments, multi-lateral agencies, families, financial institutions, asset managers, venture capital, private equity and (activist) hedge funds, technology companies, private and public corporations.
