As the global pandemic and economic crisis have accelerated changes across markets, it is witnessed that fund flows have changed and there might be long-term economic impact post Covid-19. HKIRA has invited panel speakers on an online webinar to share their viewpoints and insights on the fund flow changes in capital markets, short term and long term economic impact, and potential assets and sectors they observed for what a post-COVID future may bring. They will also provide practical suggestions on how IROs position their companies to investors amid and post Covid-19.

In this webinar, we would explore the following areas:

About the speakers:

Ms. Venus Zhao

Ms. Zhao has solid academic knowledge and professional experience in capital markets, investor relations, media relations, corporate communications, and corporate finance, with near fourteen years of relevant experience in Fortune 500 MNCs and Hong Kong listed companies, during which eight years in property sector.

In her current position as General Manager of Capital Markets and Corporate Communications at Sinic Holdings (Group) Company Limited (Stock code: 2103), she leads the team in designing and executing effective capital markets, investor relations and corporate communications programs, so as to enhance the transparency of the Company and ultimately to achieve a fair valuation of the Company's securities.

She is also Chairman of Event Committee and Executive Committee member, and Fellow of Hong Kong Investor Relations Association (HKIRA), and served previously as Council Member of Malaysia Chamber of Commerce, Full Member and Council Member of Hong Kong Institute of Marketing (HKIM), Full Member of Asia-Pacific Association of Communication Directors, and Full Member of Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Los Angeles Chapter.

Venus received her master degree of Strategic Public Relations in Communications and Journalism School in University of Southern California, and her MBA degree concentrated in Finance in The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.

 

Panel Speakers:

Mr. Ronald Chan
Chief Investment Officer
Chartwell Capital Limited

Mr. Chan founded Chartwell Capital in 2007 and currently serves as Chief Investment Officer and Co-Portfolio Manager. As CIO, he steers the firm’s investment strategy and research direction. As Co-Portfolio Manager, he oversees stock selection and portfolio allocation.

Ronald was appointed by The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited to serve as a member of the Listing Committee Panel in 2016. Two years later, he was appointed by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council to serve as a member of the Belt and Road Committee.

He is a regulator contributor to Bloomberg Opinion, and a guest lecturer for The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology MBA program. He is also the author of two books: Behind the Berkshire Hathaway Curtain: Lessons from Warren Buffett's Top Business Leaders in 2010, and The Value Investors: Lessons from the World’s Top Fund Managers in 2012. Both books have been translated into several languages.

He graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Accounting from the Stern School of Business at New York University.


Mr. Vincent Lam

Mr. Lam founded VLM in 2009 and has been managing a long/short equity fund as well as some discretionary portfolios for accredited investors since then. In August 2015, VLAM launched VL China Fund, a China-themed equity fund authorized by the Hong Kong SFC. Prior to setting up VLAM, Vincent has worked as director for Quam Asset Management Limited and later Ramius Asia accumulating more than 20 years of experience in financial analysis, investment research and portfolio management and consolidating his value investing approach to identify brilliant investment opportunities for the middle to longer term.


Mr. Frederic Neumann
Managing Director & Co-Head of Asian Economic Research
The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited

Mr. Neumann, PhD, is Managing Director and Co-Head of Asian Economics Research, based in Hong Kong. Before joining HSBC in 2006, Frederic was an adjunct professor at a number of US universities, including Johns Hopkins University, teaching graduate courses on Asian sovereign risk analysis, financial markets, monetary policy, and Southeast Asian political culture. He also served as a consultant to international organizations and governments, and as a research associate of the Institute for International Economics in Washington, DC. A former Fulbright scholar, Frederic holds a PhD in international economics and Asian studies.


Mr. Ken Yeung
Director and Head of China/HK Property Research
Citigroup Global Markets Asia Limited

Mr. Yeung's team has ranked first for 10 consecutive years in Institutional lnvestor All-Asia Research Poll. Before joining Citi Research in 2010, he was the Hong Kong property analyst for Deutsche Bank since 2007. Between 2005 and 2007, Ken was with BOCI Research, where he was the HK/China property analyst. He is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a CFA Charterholder.
